Hello Parents!
Today the HPU honors students took on the big apple by heading off to the JFK airport from various locations, where tomorrow we will take off for Prague!
For some of us today was our first step into real “adulting.” I know for me for it was my first time flying by myself, which came with many new experiences. I got to experience the customer service line (after my bag check ticket didn’t print from the kiosk). I then got to participate in everyone’s favorite section, security, where I quickly learned the fast paced nature of the line once my bags were on the table. But I then came out on the other side and headed to my gate to embark on my journey to JFK.

When the wheels touched down on the tarmac of JFK I felt a little overwhelmed since I have never traveled here, and certainly not by myself. But as my dad says “Look up and follow the signs” what do you know they will lead you to where you need to be. Following the baggage claim signs I contemplated “Who designed JFK” since I had to go down an escalator just to go back up another, when an easy solution would be to go straight across on the same floor. After my luggage was secured I again followed the signs to the TWA hotel and when I arrived I was meet with a beautiful white building with old 1960 themed cars out front (one being a DeLorean from back to the future!). The theme of the TWA is 1960s where they showcase different aspects of that time like an old hair salon and a twister room, all the while playing classic songs!
Tomorrow we will bid fair well to the big apple and head to Dublin Ireland in route to Prague!

Enjoy! And yes!! Follow those signs 🩷
Safe travels and enjoy this wonderful experience
Have the time and experience of a lifetime HPU and come home safe!
